About the Position | The Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective major donors in support of fundraising initiatives. Position Details | Communication/Reports: • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors with a focus on major gifts between $10,000 to $100,000+ • Prepare research and implement key actions needed to support a gift decision • Establish and maintain professional and productive work relationships with donors to discover their giving interests and alignment with institutional priorities • Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders • Maintain accurate and timely records of donor contact/visit activity • Provide regular updates on prospective donors/donor contact/activity to Manager, Development Activities Research: • Prepare information for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations • Assist in building and maintaining long-term relationships with external stakeholders associated with Lethbridge College and its various fundraising initiatives • Take initiative to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors capable of making major gifts • Identify gift opportunities across Lethbridge College and prepare proposals for presentations to prospective donors Confidentiality: • Perform duties in a manner that will earn the full confidence of the Manager, Development Activities • Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times. Financial: • Raise funds for College capital projects, including departmental projects and to build Lethbridge College’s inventory • Responsible for achieving financial targets based on strategic timelines around campaigns |
Required Qualifications | • Minimum of a diploma/degree in related discipline required; as well as a minimum 3-5 years’ experience with donors and sponsor cultivation • Proven experience in major gift fundraising (>$10,000) and skilled in strategy development • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Commitment to work in a team environment; must be able to interact with donors and prospective donors in a professional and courteous manner • Experience in drafting proposals, briefings, contact notes, stewardship plans/letters and other correspondent for prospects • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize competing demands to effectively meet deadlines • Self-motivated and results-oriented; positive, and responsible for achieving portfolio goals • Ability to exercise independent judgment in decision provided by the Manager, Development Activities • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Development Activities as required |
Preferred Qualifications | • Thorough knowledge of the college environment and academic structure preferred; combinations of post-secondary education and related work experience considered • Strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, and experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce or similar customer relationship management system |
Salary | Starting from $64,323 to $73,095 per annum; commensurate with education and experience. |
