About the Position
Reporting to the Manger, Human Resources, the Policy Analyst is a valued member of the Human Resources Department. The Policy Analyst functions in a consultative and collaborative work environment to support policy development and implementation, privacy; and coordinates and administers code of conduct disclosure within the college community. As an internal advisor the Policy Analyst works closely with the colleges leadership council, members of the board and various college staff to promote good governance practices, guide the evaluation, development and implementation of organizational policies, and procedures, and also provides education and mentorship related to policy, privacy and governance to members of the college community.

Required Qualifications
  • A university degree in public policy, political science, law, or equivalent. A master’s degree would be considered an asset.
  • Five or more years of related work experience that includes experience in research and/or policy analysis role.
  • Previous experience gained within a post-secondary education, government, public sector, or non-profit setting is preferred. A background in regulatory analysis or board governance would be considered an asset.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills; is able to summarize and clearly communicate complex information; demonstrates a collaborative and positive communication style; is comfortable and effective at public speaking.
  • Adeptly manages multiple demands, deadlines and competing priorities through a system of prioritization and planning; is able to self-manage as well as coach other staff on processes related to policy development, privacy, and copyright.
  • Possesses knowledge and insight into topical issues affecting the post-secondary education sector.
  • Demonstrated policy and legislation-related research skills that include the ability to conduct research, analyze information, articulate alternatives, draw conclusions and make practical recommendations to decision-makers on issues.
  • Background related to policy development, as well as internal governance issues (e.g., principles, structure, and organizational compliance).
  • Strong ability to anticipate and identify significant issues or problems, determine their scope, and initiate solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Well-developed computer skills and proficiency and experience using software to create educational materials.
  • Project-management experience.
  • Flexible; adapts to changing rules, regulations and legislation.
  • Demonstrates lateral thinking; makes connections, recognizes links between different issues.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Proactive, diligent, and takes initiative.
  • Organizational skills: the ability to manage multiple deadlines, establish priorities, work independently, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills: the ability to communicate orally and in writing to varied audiences.
  • Able to work effectively and build collaborative working relationships at all levels within the college and with external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and tact; ability to determine best solutions and outcomes to make informed recommendations based on multiple sources of information.
  • Attention to detail.
Salary Starting from $75,908 to $86,259 per annum; commensurate with education and experience.
