About the Position
The Lethbridge College School of Public Safety is housed within the Centre for Justice and Human services and collaborates with public safety agencies across the province to deliver cadet and recruit training.
 
The School of Public Safety is seeking applications for a part time, temporary, cadet coordinator commencing November 1, 2023. Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Justice and Human Services, this position is responsible for the operational aspects of all recruit/cadet classes in the School of Public Safety.
Position Details
We are seeking a coordinator who is passionate about recruit/cadet training and dedicated to supporting students in their educational journey as well as agencies in the delivery of the program.

The cadet coordinator has the following responsibilities and duties:
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate all cadet classes
  • Coordinate all aspects of the cadet class including:
    • Creating a schedule for each class
    • Liase with agency training staff sergeants and agency program facilitators
    • Hire Instructional Assistants for scenarios
    • Plan and coordinate all logistics connected to scenarios delivered for cadet assessments
    • Ensure that canvas courses are loaded, and all assignment dates are updated
    • Collaborate with CJHS faculty and agency subject matter experts to maintain program curriculum currency
    • Collaborate with Be Fit for Life
    • Collaborate with the School of Justice Studies faculty team to deliver Effective Teaching Practices and Assessor training to agency members
    • Travel to Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat as necessary to deliver cadet program. Other travel may be required

  • Support financial processes for cadet classes:
    • Collaborate with program assistant to facilitate payment of Instructional Assistants
    • Provide the Dean of CJHS information to develop agency contracts
    • Lead development of communications and marketing materials in collaboration with internal staff
    • Coordinate graduation
    • Oversee cadet student experience and support
    • Design and implement data collection tools
    • Prepare reports, summaries and updates in a variety of formats
    • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and respond to inquiries
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required 
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the field of policing, criminal or national intelligence, as well as a good understanding of training methodology is required
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential and confidence in the use of technology is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience which reflects varied and increasing levels of responsibility is beneficial. Field experience within the justice sector including public policing (Sheriff, Police) or related fields
  • Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary setting or professional setting is an asset as is assessor training and previous experience as an assessor
Salary Starting from $37.56 to $41.27 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.
