About the Position
Do you have a passion for bringing science and math to life for students? This could be the chance for you to make a difference in STEM education for K-12 learners in Alberta.

As a Teacher Consultant for The STEM Project at Lethbridge College, you will work with faculty, AV specialists, media specialists, writers, formatters, and instructional designers to design resources and experiences in alignment with K-12 science and mathematics curriculum.

This project focuses on the development of fun, interactive, tangible resources for teachers to bring STEM subjects to life through:

  • Educational Videos
  • Classroom manipulative kits
  • Classroom toolkits
  • 3D printable files
  • Industry Expert directory
  • Lesson activities to accompany each of these, as well as related professional development for teachers and research activities.

Position Details
As the STEM Project Teacher Consultant, you will:

  • Plan, conduct and document collaborative working sessions with teachers, faculty, and staff to identify curricular connections between trades and K-12 Science and Math curriculums
  • Draw upon experience in K-12 education to make recommendations about project deliverables, such as learning kits, activities, videos, 3D printable files, VR experiences
  • Collect feedback and refine prototype deliverables
  • Draft lesson activities in connection with other deliverables of the project
  • Develop storyboards and videos in collaboration with media specialists
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry representatives to develop and produce/compile project, demonstration, and tool kits.
  • Collaborate with media specialists in collecting information on deliverables for the purpose of populating the project website
  • Document project activities to support reporting requirements
  • Develop communications related to the project for internal and external use
  • Present to a variety of internal and external stakeholders regarding the project
  • Lead activities for groups of K-12 learners using project deliverables
  • Support development and delivery of professional development learning experiences for K-12 teachers
  • Collaborate with the STEM team in weekly meetings to track progress and identify milestones
Required Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in Education, with a specialization in Math or Science
  • Significant and successful teaching experience in K-12 science and/or mathematics, preferably at the Grade 7-12 level
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and attend to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a creative, collaborative team environment
  • Commitment to work towards Lethbridge College’s institutional strategies with positivity and enthusiasm
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge/experience with apprenticeship training
  • Competency with Microsoft products including Word, Teams and Excel
Salary Starting from $40.89 to $48.11 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.
