The Development Coordinator role is an entry level position for a candidate interested in a career in fund development. A wide variety of training and professional development opportunities will ensure the right candidate can grow into a Development Officer position.

We are in search of an enthusiastic individual with exceptional interpersonal skills to join our Development team. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator who can forge meaningful connections with donors, sponsors and supporters.

Position Details
Fundraising:
  • Manage a portfolio of prospective and existing student award donors.
  • Identification, discovery, cultivation and soliciting and stewarding prospective of annual student award donors.
  • Assist with collection of annual student award gifts.
  • Assist in the reporting on impact of gifts and recognition efforts for donors.
  • Lead sponsorship solicitor of institutionally approved events.

Communication/Reports:
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive work relationships with donors.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of donor contact/visit activity.
  • Provide regular updates on prospective donors/donor contact/activity to the Manager, Development.

Research:
  • Prepare information for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations in alignment with identified institutional needs.
  • Provide effective prospect research reports highlighting prospect’s linkage, interest, and ability.
  • Provide analysis of existing donor pipeline to identify stewardship opportunities.
  • Maintain inventory of institutional fundraising needs.

Administrative Support:
  • Maintain and improve accuracy of data in the donor database.
  • Support processes related to gift receipting in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency.

Confidentiality:
  • Perform duties in a manner that will earn the full confidence of the Manager.
  • Assure discreet handling of all business dealings.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a diploma/degree in Business, Marketing or Communications related discipline is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and commitment to work in a team environment; must be able to interact with donors and prospective donors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize competing demands to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills; knowledge of customer relationship management databases, MS Office Suite applications, particularly with Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the college environment and relevant work experience are considered assets.

Salary AUPE Class Level 9 Step 1 $27.01 per hour - Currently under review.
