About the Position
Lethbridge College offers a student-centered environment that provides practical and innovative learning experiences. The Centre for Business, Arts, and Sciences (CBAS) delivers a range of certificates, including Business Administration, Administrative Office Professional, General Arts and Science, Exercise Science, and Academic Upgrading, diplomas, and university transfer, together with service courses to students in many other Lethbridge College programs.

The Centre defines itself through excellence in teaching and learning, fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in all activities: development and renewal of courses and programs, approaches to teaching and learning, and scholarly activity and community engagement by students and faculty.

CBAS is seeking a full-time member of the faculty of Exercise Science with a passion for teaching and a commitment to making excellence in teaching their primary focus. We wish to appoint a full-time faculty with the background, expertise, and proven ability to teach courses in Exercise Science, coaching, and life sciences. The successful candidate will provide students with both the theoretical knowledge and laboratory skills in different aspects of exercise science, physical education, coaching, and related courses.

The successful candidate will fulfill the following responsibilities:
  • Undertake full-time teaching workload for the academic year as described by the Lethbridge College faculty role description
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development and scholarship
  • Demonstrate flexibility in terms of the portfolio of disciplines taught and the mode of delivery
  • Contribute to the goals and activities of the Centre of Business, Arts and Sciences
  • Support inclusiveness and diversity by embracing the college’s policies on indigenization and internationalization

Position Details
Responsibilities of all faculty include:
  • Delivering courses, grading assignments, and supporting student success congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes
  • Deliver courses on campus in the face-to-face classroom setting
  • Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles
  • Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards
  • Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal
  • Working collegially within the department, School, Centre, or College committees and project teams
Required Qualifications
  • The minimum educational background is a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a subject closely related to the discipline.
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) CEP Certification
  • Industry experience in physical training, coaching, fitness assessments or similar
  • Three to five years of post-secondary teaching experience in exercise science, kinesiology, coaching, and/or health and wellness
  • A background encompassing theoretical knowledge and, where applicable, practical laboratory skills in exercise science, coaching, anatomy and physiology, and health and wellness
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary to contribute positively to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a related subject
  • Fitness Alberta or other Fitness Leadership Canada (FLC) provincial equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency with learning management systems, online teaching tools, and educational technology

Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to the Faculty Collective Agreement.
