About the Position
The Centre for Trades is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Crooks School of Transportation Apprenticeship and college programs. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in ongoing curriculum development, instruction and evaluation of student progress. 

For the various transportation trades, program content follows Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Apprenticeship Course Outlines which can be researched at: www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca.

This is a full-time temporary position that starts August 1, 2024 and ends June 30, 2025. This is a great opportunity for someone to discover if teaching is for them.
Position Details
• Develop lesson plans, and course materials
• Select, develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies
• Plan and prepare the physical or virtual learning environment
• Deliver classes
• Promote an effective and efficient learning environment
• Assess student performance in a valid and reliable manner
• Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly
• Discuss with students career and employment objectives, in so far as such matters generally relate to the instruction being offered those students
• Be available to students to support learning through office hours, online, or as scheduled by the instructor in consultation with the student
• Attend and participate in meetings related to their employment with the college
• Participate in activities that enhance instructors overall effectiveness
Required Qualifications
• Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment Technician with a minimum of 5 years in the trade
• Strong diagnostic skills
• Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software plus an aptitude to learn new software applications and systems
• Self-motivated and ability to work positively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Dual certification or additional certification in Agricultural Equipment Technician, and/or Automotive Service Technician would be an asset
• Experience with heavy equipment electrical, engines, and fuel systems
• Previous formal and/or informal teaching experience is considered an asset
Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to the current Faculty Collective Agreement.
Working Here
Salary for faculty is based on the successful candidate’s highest level of education and experience. For example, if someone has their journeyman certificate and has been working in industry for 14+ years, their starting salary would be $73,920 per annum. Keep in mind, that this is for approximately 9 months of assigned time.
If the contract is extended, employees receive merit increments every July 1, so there is room for growth.
